Unwanted Hairs Are Killing Me Roughly…

I decided to write a post about those ungodly hairs that start growing the next day after you attempted to get rid of them. The reason for this is because they have gotten me down time and time again and I really see them as a curse. Whatever way you look at it…it is going to take up your time, it is going to cause you pain or empty your pocket. Who’s with me on this???

Don’t you think it is strange how a person’s head of hair, eyebrows or long lush eyelashes have always been something to be admired and appreciated by others, and even something that has attracted the opposite sex at first glance, yet any other hairs are considered gross, embarrassing and unesthetic? It wasn’t always like this…but we are now part of a society where we fight a constant battle to be picture perfect due to the thousands of images of beautiful people that surround us on a daily basis. But I also blame porn!!! The porn industry has played a big part in creating this ideology of what a woman’s body is meant to look like that is completely, utterly unrealistic, to the point where 15-year-old boys believe that fake breasts are what is normal, or vaginas that have been surgically changed to look better are what to be expected when they eventually have sex with a girl. This obviously creates a situation in which young girls are fighting against a fantasy…something that they can’t achieve, which is sad!! Especially considering they are young beautiful girls at  the prime of their life and at a time where their bodies are gorgeous – which won’t be appreciated by their male counterparts when they decide to get intimate.

Anyway, the point of bringing up porn, in order to be relevant to this post, is that it has also created this false view that a girl should never ever have pubic hairs on sight. Numerous guys have told me that they met a girl and were getting intimate, and as soon as they saw hairs down there, they became repulsed and completely turned off. And yes, those particular guys were avid porn watchers – surprise surprise!!

I have also noticed that as time goes by, underwear changes through the generations making it more and more awkward to have pubic hairs. I mean…seriously…if you’re wearing a thong, and you’ve never shaved…well…I’m sure we can all picture that.

So!!! This seems like the right time to go through the list of body parts that need hair removed on a regular basis. I am going to write the ones that are both relevant to me as well as those that apply to some girls I’ve met. I will start from the top and work my way down south:

  • Eyebrows
  • Moustache (yeah I feel attractive now)
  • Some friends grow hair on their neck and chin
  • Armpits
  • Nipples
  • Snail Trail (on the belly)
  • La Vagine
  • Inner Thighs
  • Inner Thighs? Who am I kidding – whole freakin’ leg!!
  • I’ve seen girls remove toe hair..

Yeah…isn’t this process just freakin’ peachy?!? Now let’s think of all the methods girls use to remove aforementioned hairs:

  • Depilation (only removes hairs from the surface)
    - Shaving
    - Trimming
    - Hair Removal creams
    - Friction (a rough surface that puffs away the hairs..doubt it works though)
  • Epilation (removes from the root of the hair from underneath the skin)
    - Waxing (RAAA this hurts like a bitch!)
    - Tweezing/Plucking
    - Sugaring (similar to waxing but its kinda like a caramel paste)
    - Threading
    - Taking pills that help prevent growth but not recommended
    - Epilator (first time I tried this, I actually screamed!! :| )
    - Laser hair removal (awesome, but incredibly expensive but will be gone forever)
  • Bleaching (this doesn’t remove obviously, just makes the hairs appear invisible but they don’t fool me – I see live hairs!! )

None of the above methods are fun, or exciting, or cheap when done so regularly and some not even as a one-off!!

Problems: This may seem like something inane…this whole having to get rid of hairs thing…coz hey we’ve all gotta deal with it, right? So let’s just get over it!! But it’s not that simple. For many people it really is a problem. For many is it something that seriously affects their self-esteem and their confidence, because no matter what they do, the hairs grow back at a ridiculous speed and especially for girls who have really thick dark hair – I feel for them, I truly do!! I mean…a girl can never just decide out of the blue that she wants to go meet up with a guy!! The possibility of sexy time is there, and if things do go down that road, then you need to be prepared!! Stripping and finding your legs a tad grisly just isn’t a good feeling – for neither of you!!

I also have some friends who have much more serious problems – problems that actually affect their body because of their hair. If a girl has particularly curly hair, she may have regular ingrown hairs that curl round and round below the skin causing an infection and a huge swollen ball which requires emergency cutting and other not so appetising things to happen. So for her case, it raises the question: Am I better off waxing/shaving so that I look more appealing for a guy temporarily but have to go to the emergency room every few weeks or am I better off just embracing my hair and to hell with the guy???
If all of this wasn’t enough, there is also the problem of cost. Even if you’re fairly well off, you can’t just go and wax all the time, (I don’t just because it hurts too damn much!!) and laser hair removal seems to me like the best option, as the hairs are gone for good. But who knows what  the consequences of that might be?!?!

My point is – All this extra hair should just begone already!!! I thought the whole point of evolution was that we gained useful things and got rid of useless ones!!

My other point is - Men should really try to be a bit more tolerant towards female bodily hair. Don’t be so shocked by it, or repulsed for that matter – it is natural!! The same way boobs are meant to sag a bit – THEY WERE MADE FOR BABIES NOT FOR YOU !!

My next point is - We are depressed enough about our extra hair without people saying a bunch of crap that just makes it worse!! The process of removing them is painful and expensive and occurs on a stupid regular basis.

Ok I think I made it pretty obvious how I feel about all that :D But I’m curious about how other people feel about it, or how they deal with it?? Or is it just a non-problem for you?

I’ll count to 10 take deep breaths now :P
